Driveshaft Components

• A driveshaft is a long hollow tube constructed of steel or aluminum.

• At each end of the shaft is a yoke. The yoke is typically welded onto the tubular shaft during construction.

• A universal-joint is normally mounted into the yoke. This acts as a moveable joint between the driveshaft and transmission or the drive-shaft and differential.
